A Guide To Grading
AS NEW
A device in "as new" condition must be in perfect working order and show no signs of use. It should be indistinguishable from a brand new device, meaning:
-
No scratches, scuffs, dents, or marks on the screen, back, or frame
-
Battery health must be excellent, with minimal degradation (typically 90% or above)
-
All original functions must work perfectly (camera, speakers, buttons, touchscreen, etc.)
-
Device must be unlocked or clearly stated if locked to a network
-
No cracks or liquid damage
-
Not blacklisted, iCloud/Google account must be fully removed
-
Ideally includes the original box and accessories, though not essential unless specified“We assess all devices carefully. If the phone shows even light signs of use, it may fall into a lower grading category (e.g. used).”
USED
A device in "used" condition is fully functional but shows clear signs of previous use. This means:
-
The phone works perfectly with no technical faults
-
It may have noticeable wear, such as scratches, scuffs, or small dents on the screen or body
-
The screen must be intact — no cracks or deep damage
-
The battery should be in reasonable health (typically 80% or above)
-
Must be unlocked or clearly stated if network locked
-
No liquid damage or major defects
-
iCloud/Google accounts must be removed, and it must not be blacklisted
-
Accessories and box are not required, but welcome if available
“Devices in ‘used’ condition are expected to look well-used but still function like they should. Any serious damage may place it in a lower value category.”
FAULTY
A device in "faulty" condition has one or more issues that affect its functionality, performance, or usability. This includes but is not limited to:
-
Does not power on or has random shutdowns
-
Touchscreen not working properly, or display issues like lines, flickering, or no image
-
Cracked screen or back glass
-
Battery not holding charge, or overheating
-
Faulty buttons, cameras, speakers, microphone, or charging port
-
Software issues, stuck in a boot loop, or error messages
-
Face ID / Fingerprint sensor not working
-
Liquid damage or signs of corrosion
-
Locked to iCloud or Google account (Activation Lock must be disclosed)
-
Network blacklisted, lost, or stolen status (will affect price or may not be accepted)“We still buy many faulty devices, but the more detail you provide about the fault(s), the more accurate our offer will be.”
BROKEN
A device in "broken" condition is typically heavily damaged and may be non-functional or only partially working. This goes beyond minor faults and includes serious physical or internal damage. Examples include:
-
Severely cracked screen or back
-
Device won’t turn on at all, even when charged
-
Multiple parts not working, e.g. screen, buttons, battery, or motherboard issues
-
Signs of heavy impact or damage from being dropped
-
Severe liquid damage or corrosion
-
Missing parts, e.g. buttons, SIM tray, screen, battery
-
Frame bent or warped
-
iCloud/Google locked, blacklisted, or reported lost/stolen (must be disclosed)“We may still accept broken devices for parts or recycling, but the value offered will depend on the severity of the damage and whether the device can be salvaged.”
